Troye Sivan's House Style: Get the Look

July 31, 2021

Discover the stunning interior style of Australian artist Troye Sivan's house in our latest Get the Look

The Victorian-era home of acclaimed singer-songwriter and actor Troye Sivan has gone through several transformations, much like its owner. Once Melbourne's leading handball court, it initially hosted intercolonial handball competitions in the late 1800s. Its Victorian industrial structure was once a brick factory and a 1950s hotel before being revitalised by celebrated Australian architect John Mockridge, who bought the site in 1970.

Under Sivan's artistic eye, the scale and light of this one-of-a-kind space are flourishing once more. Sivan collaborated with leading architects Flack Studio to transform it into a serene green haven lit up by his sophisticated collection of art and furnishings, reflecting a sensitivity for its design heritage and a love of authentic materials.

Sivan’s house deserves credit for preserving the space's cork ceiling from the 1970s and cultivating a courtyard garden filled with Australian native plants nestled in this Victorian-style structure. This Renaissance-style artist's instinct for Italian designers and surfaces, on the other hand, has piqued our interest. His home features Venetian plastered walls, a Glas Italia shimmer side table designed by Patricia Urquiola, a Boggi marble vanity, and an Ettore Sottsass floor lamp.

These elements are sophisticated, ethereal, and playful, reflecting Sivan's global appeal. He has captivated us with his creativity for the past two decades, from his first break in Wolverine to his conquering of YouTube and phenomenal music career.

Further, Sivan's home, as a visual storyteller, connects the past while remaining grounded and warm. He has added a new dynamism to his Australian home, giving the impression that it will continue to evolve as Sivan adds more art and objects and draws creative inspiration from the thriving courtyard.

Since Architectural Digest published it in their May issue, his Melbourne home has caused quite a stir. It has received ecstatic praise from music and design fans alike. With photography by Anson Smart and words by Mayer Rus, Maker&Son is thrilled that our Song sofa in Malachite was included in such a stunning feature.

Its accompanying home tour video by AD, which can be viewed here, is not missed and has attracted millions of views.

Our Get the Look pays homage to his world's eclectic soulfulness. Whether it's YouTube, Instagram, or Spotify, we know Sivan's sensual face and sound will be there, omnipresent as always. However, it's wonderful to discover that his home, a tranquil green haven, feels classically analog.
